I am fairly musical in that I was taught to play the violin and recorder

practice on it meant going to other people to practice which was not a
good idea. So now I have a bonus which allowed me to purchase my own!
I will use the free course to learn and will definitely not pass on to
others, I know how frustrating this can be as I am also a computer
teacher at Benoni High School and know about copyright and respect it.

I will keep in touch, but don't expect miracles due to my
age!! My biggest joy is that I will have something to do and keep my
interests when I retire.

Dont worry about questions . Too many buy keyboards and find out the answers later ! So ask away .
As far as longetivity well the keyboard itself can be connected ot a pc and recordings made on software etc ( an extra R250 +- cables etc at some point if connecting direct to a PC soundcard and unfoirtunately R500 if not using the USB keyboards route - only neccessary with built in soundcards instead of a seperate one like a soundblaster) They will always be around as midi cables and sockets are pretty standard. A professional trying to record an album would want other features but even with this one and sequencing (recording software) on a PC one can do a pretty good job.

Basically it isnt a problem The differances are in sound samples having 566 sounds instead of 135 rather a diffierance in quality , as it is in getting extra rhythm patterns both of which only a serious professional would worry about .

As far as longetivity and interest its more ot do with the style of the playing she would want to achieve than the keyboard. I.e. Classical piano style is obviously more limited on a keyboard as it doesnt have the same range of dynamics and not the same no of notes of a piano. This keyboard has touch sensitivity meaning some notes can be played louder some softer..so the left hand can be softer as in piano style but not to the extent of a piano. Also a piano needs a few months adaption ot the heavier touch at a later poiint but it is not an issue Ive seen many make the trransition fine.

Basically if its bought as a keyboard , ie to utilise layering two sounds together , playing with rhythms. reecording one hand then another and playing seperately, learning some of the prerecorded songs, a keyboard is far superior (my opinion) introducing a child to music than piano cause of the variety . the control of speeds and many things. Only a teacher with experience teaching keyboard as oppossed to one teaching mainly piano and contemporary music is going to understand how to utilise the keyboard though . Its a lot about the material a teacher uses. Personally aside from the lights, I use material Ive developed that plays with the songs but a lot easier than the songbank scores.

Carrie Harding runs a keyboard teaching studio with a lot of experince espe with Casio in JHB and I can put you on to her.

There should be someone at home and at the office at all times. I think the house may be easier to find. We do not have street names here! Come up the N2 and take the turning to Jozini, Northern Maputoland. From Jozini, cross the dam and drive about 50km to the T-junction. Turn left up the mountain to Ingwavuma. At the top of the mountain, but before you reach the town centre there is a Clover Board on the left with a sign to Ingwavuma High School. Turn left, go past the school, turn right round the back of the school. At the end of the school fence there are a few buildings, then an open playing field. Opposite the field on the left of the road there is a big yellow building with shiny tin roofs. Turn left down a little track to get to the gate. Ask for Dr Barnard’s house if lost! There is no MTN reception up here, but there is Vodacom.

Alternatively ask for Ingwavuma Orphan Care Offices. They are near to the house but a bit further down the tar road past Magugu community centre.

Difference is the sound - each are very different

Cheaper laminated are availabe ....
