			Probably anyone picking a saxophone and trying for the first time would be really surprised at how easy it was to make the sound with a little trial and error . Which reed size one chooses is also important as well as which mouthpiece. We can suggest the correct reed+ mouthpiece for your saxophone according to your budget As far as quality- beginners often think that having a more expensive Yamaha or Jupiter ( well known brand ) as opposed to a less known cheaper brand is magically going to produce a better sound . My experience teaching, and most teachers will agree that saxophones like other instruments make the sound you are capable of making - well to a degree of 80% +-. A good player will make a cheaper saxophone sound wonderful - depending on the complexity of the music - as the music gets more complex more expensive brands will respond to the difficulties easier of course. But that 80% is really up to you - are you going to practice 5 days week ? Its not as much up to the saxophone as one might think. We advise players to buy the saxophone appropriate to your skill level and suggest talk to us than make any decision based on saxophone brand marketing . We have 20 years experience in woodwinds from a teaching and repair perspective - buyers are not always aware of the sensitive nature of saxophone purchases - and often, when they come in to our workshop for repair , we see the results of people buying saxophones incorrectly setup or ( not setup at all ) or just not what they bargained for ( not suited to Band perfomance - a mouthpiece that isnt suited to their embouchure ( lip position ) and so on - so weve recently added just a few things we suggest you consider below - but advise phone us for more information as the internet is not our primary sales

Since a serious setup can only be done by a skilled woodwind craftsman who is ALSO a skilled saxophone professional player (octave regulation+ many other final setup of all new instruments ) we suggest be careful about face value setups - who will be doing your setup -ask the venue they are currently performing in -ask them names professional players on the circuit whos saxophones they service- a new sax setup poorly by a woodwind player with general experience but not saxophone playing experience of at least 5 years simply cannot play the instrument well enough to do the setup , like violins and good guitars or for that matter any woodwind, correctly will simply play to 10% to 20 % less than its potential value
