Chinese manufactured musical instrument

CHINESE INSTRUMENTS

We often get questions about student instruments if they are made in china, as if that is always a bad thing, but in fact 95% or more of instruments are made in china (Including most major brands now )  and factories differ in quality control.

Many Chinese factories produce some more than reasonable products now in most categories of musical instruments so its knowing what to buy that counts

Poor quality chinese products are the result of importers who demand the cheapest price, not the fault of chinese factories.   Certain  "non music shop" outlets (with no professional musicians on sales staff to even test the instruments ) sell the most basic  kind of instruments based entirely on cheapest price. Of course chinese factories have no choice but to oblige when demanded but 80% of chinese factories do not supply that kind of product.

We prefer not sell "almost impossible to play"  poorer quality instruments and when instruments are made in china we will suggest which are, after our testing, good quality instruments.

BUYING ON BRAND NAME

In the higher end professional instrument market buying a trusted brand can be a good thing.. However brand manufacturers also provide student level instruments and these do not neccesarily provide better quality than many" lesser known brands" which might save buyers quite a bit.
