Budget flutes use nickle silver plating or coloured laquer plating both of which wear within a 6 months to a year as poosed to solid silver plating.which does not.
They also frequently do not provide the E Mechanism which makes 3rd register higher notes easier to play
Having tested them our opinion is the factories have only done the barest minimum setup of the keys individually on these brands because of the lowest price the shops demand
So they are more difficult too play unless given a further more hand set up by a technician locally (all pads leak to minicule extents)
However if well setup by a flute technician locally ( ALL our flutes are setup ) but when setup is poor it makes flutes very diffiicult to play ( flute technicians charge approx a min of R750 for a setup of all keys )
If setup. then apart from the plating long term appearance, the flutes are sound and able to produce a pleasing tone and easy to play.
