Alto Saxophone

Alto saxophones are normally where saxophones start out though sometimes the soprano saxophone is also gaining popularity for starting students.

The alto saxophone transposes ( changes the pitch of the written note )  and reads the treble clef in the key of E♭ (so a written C for the alto will sound as E♭; concert, a major sixth lower).

The alto saxophone has a nice range allowing very low notes in the tenor area as well as right up to the soprano range .  Indications of whether the alto saxophone  its a suitable instrument for you is your size and your age ..  would you like to play in band after a while ? what style of music is your aim to play ? Jazz pop ballads, classical or the Blues ?
